About The Position

GenStar Insurance Services, LLC is a premier provider of excess, surplus, and specialty property and casualty insurance written on General Star Indemnity Company (non-admitted) and General Star National Insurance Company (admitted) paper (collectively, the GenStar companies). The GenStar companies conduct business through a select group of wholesale brokers, managing general underwriters (MGUs), and program administrators in the United States. The GenStar companies are members of the Berkshire Hathaway Family of Companies. GenStar currently offers an excellent opportunity for Claims Executive - GenStar based in our Stamford, CT, Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL office. This is a hybrid role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years insurance technical claim handling experience.
  • Undergraduate college degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level technical claim handling and support to GenStar clients and insureds.
  • Mitigate losses, address and resolve coverage issues, and provide guidance and advice to internal and external clients and insureds.
  • Handle all claims in a proactive manner, addressing coverage issues, liability, and damages to timely set reserves and mitigate exposures.
  • Prepare prompt, thorough, and articulate reports for clients, insureds, and management.
  • Provide GenStar underwriters with valuable client information and intelligence.
  • Maintain adjuster licenses where required and stay current with all continuing education requirements.
  • Attend internal and external industry-related educational programs.
  • Adhere to the Company's technical and administrative standards/guidelines.
  • Remain current on industry standards/guidelines and legal decisions that impact claim handling and exposures.
  • Attend settlement conferences, mediations, ADR, and trials as warranted.
  • Travel as necessary and as required by the Company.
