Homeowners of America, a property and casualty insurance provider and subsidiary of Porch Group, Inc., is based in Texas and provides quality products and services at competitive prices through our network of independent agent partners. In addition to Texas, HOA provides property and casualty insurance in 20+ states throughout the country and continues to add more as we work to become a national carrier. We are seeking a dynamic team member with a strong analytical aptitude to join our Virtual Claims Unit (VCU). The VCU Claims Examiner is responsible for handling property damage or liability claims. Examiner must establish rapport with the insureds and maintain relationships with agents, underwriters, contractors, restoration vendors and experts working in a team environment with other Claims Examiners, Claims Adjusters and Claims Associates. The examiner will review policies, claims, property damage estimates, photos, police reports, inspection reports, and other related reports to evaluate damage and coverage to determine amounts covered under the applicable insurance policy. Examiners are responsible for identifying damages, writing estimates, requesting payments, issuing claim payment letters or denial letters when appropriate. Examiners must provide excellent customer service and embody the Homeowners of America/Porch values; No jerks/no egos, be ambitious, solve each problem, care deeply, and together we win.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years of relevant residential property & casualty work experience and/or training handling property and liability claims
  • Familiarity with Estimate software (Xactimate), claims handling systems and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use standard office equipment
  • Experience gathering and analyzing information, completing claims accurately and on time, and interpreting policies and reports
  • Strong integrity, ethics, confidentiality, and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, effective customer interaction, and ability to foster teamwork
  • Independent, organized, and capable of managing competing deadlines while handling challenging situations professionally

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Provide excellent customer support while managing claims efficiently
  • Investigate and Evaluate Claims: Review policies, verify coverage, assess damages, and determine fair compensation
  • Manage Claim Processes: Adjust reserves, enter payments, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with guidelines
  • Collaborate and Negotiate: Work with insured parties, attorneys, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve claims promptly
  • Analyze and Document Evidence: Examine photos, statements, surveillance, and records; compile reports and recommendations

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $67,500 - $85,000 Annually
