About The Position

The Claims Consultant position at The Hartford Global Specialty - Financial Lines EPL Claims Group involves managing a caseload of Employment Practices Liability claims from inception to final disposition. The role requires expertise in handling litigated EPL cases, including managing defense counsel and conducting thorough investigations. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing coverage, liability, and damages, as well as developing resolution strategies through negotiations. This position offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement, with expectations for in-office work for those near specific locations.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree strongly preferred, College Degree Required.
• Minimum of 7 years handling litigated coverage and liability cases and/or claims.
• Knowledge and experience handling all aspects of EPL claims.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong strategic thinking and execution skills.
• Advanced negotiation and technical claim handling skills.
• Superior time management and task prioritization skills.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and maintain a team player attitude.

• Experience in risk management and claims topics for presentations.
• Familiarity with industry trends and policy issues.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of EPL claims from inception to final disposition.
• Conduct investigations and analyze information related to claims.
• Determine coverage, liability, and damages based on claim facts.
• Communicate written positions on coverage, liability, and damages to insureds and other parties.
• Set and monitor expense and indemnity reserves.
• Present cases to management for reserve authority above established levels.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies through negotiations.
• Manage litigation and counsel, including planning and execution.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Support business partners in evaluating claim trends and developments.
• Provide training and marketing support to Underwriters.
• Attend and present at industry events on risk management and claims topics.
