About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible general liabilities claims experience.
• Texas Property and Casualty Adjuster License, or All-Line or Multi-Lines license.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year experience in Liability Claims Adjusting.
• Current Texas Adjusters License.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook.
• Telephone Customer Service Experience.
• Basic knowledge of Subrogation.

Responsibilities

• Investigates allegations of negligence made by third-parties to determine legal liability.
• Collects documentation to determine the extent of damages for settlement of compensable claims.
• Prepares documentation in a Risk Management Information System articulating liability analysis.
• Communicates with involved parties based on investigation and liability position.
• Establishes appropriate reserve levels based on financial exposure and documents changes in reserves.
• Negotiates claim settlements based on the City's liability and evaluation of damages.
• Prepares settlement memorandum to seek settlement authority and directs Claims Assistant for payments.
• Annotates and categorizes incoming claims correspondence including medical records.
• Assists City Attorneys with handling litigated claims and participates in mediation and settlement negotiations.
• Pursues subrogation of property damages and enforcement of workers' compensation liens.
