About The Position

Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Porter ensures that the common areas and all floors and walkways of facility are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times to provide for the care and welfare of our residents in a healthful environment. The Porter respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to think critically; defined as reading, understanding and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to walk long distances daily
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands
• Ability to hear ordinary conversation and office sounds
• Ability for verbal communication in person and on the phone
• Ability for written communication by hand and on PC

Responsibilities

• Maintains all floors in the required manner
• Empties all trash receptacles and picks up miscellaneous trash on floor on a daily basis and as needed
• Handles recycling
• Ensures that all entranceways are clean, maintained and safe
• Follows cleaning procedures in a safe manner
• Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper storage locations after use
• Checks stock and notifies supervisor of supply needs
• Moves furniture
• Sets up, assists with decorating and breaks down special events
• Writes up maintenance work orders
• Participates in ongoing in-service education and attends meetings
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
