About The Position

STV has an immediate need in our Raleigh, NC offices for a Civil/Water Resources Project Engineering Specialist in our Transportation & Infrastructure division. The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a solid understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys being part of a strong team environment! Will also have opportunities to assist our transportation design efforts, providing geometric design for road and bridge projects (these skills are not required and can be learned on numerous projects).

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Biological, Agricultural, or another related discipline)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience of Water Resources and Storm Water Design Engineering - design of storm drains, culverts, storm water management, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, Floodplain studies, environmental permitting, and cost estimating
  • Candidate should possess knowledge and experience of NC Department of Transportation and Local government design and permitting requirements
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client interaction and collaboration with other engineering disciplines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the North Carolina transportation field is desirable due to the unique nature of Erosion/Sediment Control and Stormwater Management permitting

Responsibilities

  • Use hydrologic and hydraulic software such as OpenRoads Designer (StormCAD), Geopak Drainage, and HEC-RAS modeling
  • Use CADD and mapping software including OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS
  • Prepare various technical reports in support of transportation project drainage designs
  • Produce quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
  • Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies
  • Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, green stormwater, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control
  • Coordinate permitting through various water management districts including NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities
  • Participate in project development meetings with client teams
  • Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Establish working relationships with internal disciples and project managers within STV
