About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You'll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil/Water Resources Engineer Intern for employment in the Bloomfield, NJ office. AECOM is searching for candidates who can be client-focused, impactful, and decisive. This position is expected to begin in May/June 2026.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Water, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of study.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework related to civil engineering, site design, stormwater management, water quality, hydrology and hydraulics, stream restoration, or related classes.
  • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design with software like GIS, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.
  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
