About The Position

Utili-Serve is seeking a Civil Substation Technician to support the safe and efficient construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical substations. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, dependable service to our customers by performing both energized and de-energized work under varying levels of supervision. Candidates must have a strong understanding of substation construction practices, equipment maintenance, and field operations, along with the ability to interpret prints and complete field reports accurately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Understanding of electrical safety practices and high-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of equipment and switching procedures in substations.
• Familiarity with electrical theory and basic circuit configurations.
• Ability to operate tools, PPE, and heavy equipment used in substation work.
• Skilled in troubleshooting and replacing electrical components.
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in the electric utility or construction field preferred
• CDL Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and operate substation equipment and facilities.
• Follow all safety procedures and comply with legal and company regulations.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Maintain accurate field inspection reports and project documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with team members on day-to-day tasks.
• Provide input and support for training junior staff as needed.
• Represent the company professionally while working in the field.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.
