About The Position

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer Associate to join their engineering team. This virtual position involves working from home and focuses on delivering engineering projects for fossil and hydro power clients. The role includes design support for various power-related structures and requires collaboration with team members to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience
  • EIT Certification is required
  • Experience with industry standard structural analysis software (i.e. STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.)
  • Experience with calculations using MathCAD, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with ACI 318 and anchorage designs
  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD drafting and 3D/BIM modeling
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, CBC, ASCE7, AISC 360, AISC 341, ACI 318, etc.)
  • Seismic design experience with concrete and steel
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed schedules
  • Adherence to Mesa quality program and safety standards

Nice To Haves

  • MSCE with structural emphasis from an ABET accredited school
  • Familiarity with power generating utility processes
  • Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis programs

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documents such as design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist in the definition of project objectives, preparation of design estimates, and definition of project requirements and routine design approaches.
  • Responsible for scoping, estimating, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects with unique or complex technical requirements.
  • Perform technical and coordination checking review of deliverables and ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable design requirements.
  • Prepare/check calculations using engineering formulas and specific structural analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.
  • Assist in the resolution of construction issues, supporting design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely fashion.
