About The Position

Their Nuclear Services Division provides high-quality engineering, procurement, design, and project management for operating and new reactor clients, integrating nuclear design with various electrical and AI design aspects. This position is for a Civil/Structural Engineering Associate II within the Nuclear Services Division, focusing on developing deliverables for nuclear projects, acting as a Design Engineer for Civil projects, and preparing design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and associated facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Ability to obtain EIT within one year of employment
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant
  • Basic knowledge of civil design codes (AISC, ASTM, ACI)
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Possess the ability to interpret codes and, regulations, and standard practices
  • Be able to demonstrate adaptability; must be proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization

Nice To Haves

  • Structural engineering emphasis

  • Previous design experience related to modifications in nuclear (DOE or commercial) plants
  • Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors
  • Additional software skills including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Vault, Risa, ANSYS

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Civil discipline
  • Report to an assigned Project Engineer and act as a Design Engineer for Civil projects
  • Be responsible for working with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities
  • Be proficient in preparation of engineering change packages (EC’s)
  • Conduct field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components
  • Follow a strict adherence to civil codes and standards
