About The Position

Envista Forensics is looking for an experienced and driven Civil/Structural Engineer with a wealth of industry knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and interest in Structural and/or Architectural engineering design, failure analysis, enjoy a combination of field and office work, and have a curious mind. The role involves investigating the origin and cause of failures, damages, or defects in the civil/structural fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites. The engineer will analyze the failure of building systems, determine the cause of failures, evaluate the quality of construction, and review design or maintenance procedures. Participation in catastrophe responses such as hurricanes, tornados, floods, wildland fires, and earthquakes is also expected. The engineer will perform field investigations, lead multi-party examinations, and document damaged property, while preparing accurate reports outlining the cause and origin of damages to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Active PE is required (in the state of employment is preferred).
  • 5 to 7+ years’ experience in design in combination of residential, commercial and industrial setting preferred.
  • Experience with commercial and industrial facilities is desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Technical expertise including Microsoft Suite and CRM.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a work capacity.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work in high areas such as roofs or scaffolding, requiring physical agility, balance, and resistance to acrophobia.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates the origin and cause of failures, damages, or defects in the civil/structural fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Analyzes the failure of building systems, determines the cause of failures, evaluates the quality of construction or reviews design or maintenance procedures.
  • Participates in catastrophe responses such as hurricanes, tornados, floods, wildland fires, and earthquakes.
  • Performs field investigations, and leads multi-party examinations and documentation of damaged property.
  • Researches failure modes and code requirements as needed, and prepares recommendations for repair and/or remediation as appropriate.
  • Prepares accurate, clear, thorough, and concise reports and letters outlining the cause and origin of the damages to clients.
  • Provides expert testimony in a court of law if required.
  • Manages/works with multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.
  • Establishes trusted working relationships with clients and interacts socially at mixed engagements with clients.
