About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Civil/Structural Engineer. The position involves reviewing existing facility drawings, documents, and calculations to understand the design of a concrete pad at the Low Activity Waste (LAW) vitrification plant. The engineer will prepare calculations to analyze the adequacy of the concrete pad to support the load of replacement melter, transporter, and melter lifting assembly, under the guidance of ASME NQA-1 2008/2009 1a. The role includes designing and supervising construction projects, performing engineering calculations, generating layout plans, and providing technical expertise to develop and manage engineering analysis and programs. The engineer will work in multi-discipline teams, ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies, and participate in cost estimation for engineering services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related technical degree.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing facility drawings, documents, and calculations.
  • Prepare calculations to analyze the adequacy of the concrete pad.
  • Design and supervise construction projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations using traditional methods or Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Generate layout plans, foundation details, and architectural feature designs.
  • Assist in the preparation and approval of design documents and plant modifications.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance for engineering analysis and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with national codes and standards.
  • Interface with staff and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work.
  • Perform checking to ensure accuracy of design media.
  • Work on timelines to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.
  • Recommend new equipment and techniques to improve performance.
  • Perform independent research and analyses in support of plant changes.
  • Support installation and testing of site systems and components.
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates for engineering services.
