About The Position

Civil Structural Engineer for development of greenfield US steel plant. Engineering degree and PE Must have had leadership experience as the project director/manager on $200M+ capital projects. Over $1B+ desired. Steel plant experience strongly desired. Must be US National (or 10+ years capital project experience in the US). The position will be in India for approximately 1 year, then in Baton Rouge, LA. Permanent full-time position. Expat package (with family) while in India, permanent relocation provided to Baton Rouge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program. Structural coursework required.
  • 10 to 20 years of relevant heavy industrial, refinery, petrochemical and process facility civil/structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration active (Texas P.E. minimum) with ability to gain reciprocity in additional states as necessary.
  • Strong working knowledge of the design and analysis of steel and concrete structures, bolted and welded connections, deep and shallow foundations, process piping support systems, equipment supports and/or foundations.
  • Strong working knowledge and application of governing codes, standards and design guides related to construction and design of steel and concrete structures – International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, AISC 360, ASTM, Process Industry Practices (PIP), etc.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety in design applicable to industrial and process facilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite – Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Prior field experience and ready to work onsite daily.
  • Lead a team to work on multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in use of structural analysis software, STAAD or RISA 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Civil/Structural Engineering lead and Engineer of Record to various project assignments and working onsite.
  • Communicate with the client onsite daily and lead the Civil/Structural team to meet the project schedule and budget. Responsible for performing all design and analysis aspects associated with civil/structural scopes of work. Designing deep and shallow foundation systems, open framed steel and concrete structures, containment structures. Structural analysis and condition evaluation of existing structures. Providing support to project teams in developing structural expansion strategy and conceptual plans. Generally performing at all project stages including early conceptual development and feasibility studies, low and high accuracy estimates, detail design and construction support.
  • Development of conceptual layouts and cost studies/estimates. Production of project documents such as written scopes of work, civil/structural design criteria and various specifications. Communication with geotechnical and environmental engineering consultants as required. Writing geotechnical engineering consultation and subsurface investigation requests. Production of FEL I/II/III Class Estimates – Preliminary design and analysis, conceptual to detail sketches, and material quantity development consistent with the project’s level of estimate. Producing and checking of detailed calculations.
  • Directing and supervising the preparation of construction and design drawings.
  • Review of fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to project drawings and specifications.
