About The Position

Meehan, Inc. is looking for a civil site superintendent with experience in Heavy Civil, Grading & Storm water. Total compensation package $97,000 (base salary plus benefits). We provide access and work as a team to perform construction services to vital utility crews. The position requires travel (4/5 nights per week) and operates in a tobacco-free environment. Per Diem is provided for out of town work.

Requirements

  • Current driver's license and good driving record; CDL is a plus.
  • Required drug screening.
  • Experience with environmental oversight and DHEC/DNR is a plus.
  • Experience in crew operations and management is a plus.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, adhere to, and articulate safety regulations and document those requirements in writing.
  • Willingness to learn environmental aspects of jobs, uses for various aggregate, excavation, grading, slope, and erosion control materials.

  • Experience in crew operations and management.
  • Spanish language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment and support the goal of having zero recordable safety incidents.
  • Organize and manage multiple crews for a variety of jobs ranging from commercial civil site development, erosion control, earthwork, and environmental activities.
  • Assist with general laborer and equipment operation tasks, responsible for field and crew, equipment operation, and completing daily paperwork.
  • Demonstrate patience on the job site while working with and transporting crew.
  • Be detail-oriented and manage safety, logistics, and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead field operations to monitor and improve crew productions and understand goals, use of proper tools, and management of materials.
  • Ensure proper installation and maintenance of temporary erosion and sediment control devices.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with inspectors.
  • Review construction plans to determine design, specifications, and sequence of activities.
  • Assist project management in ensuring that all work meets specifications.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of materials used and time reporting of crew members.
  • Oversee entire construction project from start to finish.
  • Accountable for equipment safety, maintenance, and operation.
  • Host daily safety meetings with the team.
  • Maintain a safe, clean job site, vehicles, and orderly work.
  • Spot trucks or trailers on site.
  • Complete slope, rough and fine grading activities as necessary and place aggregate.
  • Use a variety of hand tools requiring upper body forces of 40lbs.
  • Lift up to 80lbs, bend, squat, and perform frequent cross-body movements.
