Civil / Land Development Group Manager We are looking to hire an experienced Civil / land Development Group Manager to be based in our Charlotte or Raleigh office. We offer opportunities to work with schools, hospitals, private developments, local agencies, municipalities and DOTs on a variety of civil site projects involving storm water, site design and layout, parking lot design, roadway, water and sewer improvements. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer and have significant experience in client development and pursuing, managing, designing, and providing civil site services for public and private agencies, including DOTs, counties, and municipalities. Location This full-time position will report to our Charlotte or Raleigh office at least 3 days a week.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina (or ability or acquire it through reciprocity in 3 months)
  • 15+ years of industry experience
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • Proficient understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
  • Excellent communication, strong written, oral, and client relation skills, experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes
  • Understanding of North Carolina regulatory agencies and permitting process
  • Experienced in Project Management, including design cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance/quality control
  • Able to successfully manage staff both individually and as a team
  • Experience working with public agencies, private entities, and/or municipalities
  • Design experience with site development, local roads, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, sedimentation & erosion control practices, and stormwater best management practices
  • Excellent communication, business development, project management, and client relation skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills with a track record for understanding and adhering to contractual requirements
  • Progressive experience working directly with clients developing relationships, with proven ability to win work
  • Ability to lead, manage, mentor, and grow a dynamic team
  • Strong understanding of project financials and Vision reporting; maintaining compliance with division and project financial objectives including Chargeability, Profit, Overhead
  • Participate in local civic and professional organizations to promote the Company

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the North Carolina Division Civil Site Group, including the design, and construction administration service lines
  • Manage project teams, accountable for staffing, budget, and schedule
  • Contribute to local, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives including expansion of Civil / Land Development in throughout the Carolina’s and the Southeast region
  • Develop and manage relationships with new and existing clients
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events
  • Identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
  • Collaborate on divisional and regional growth strategy
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Business Development and Marketing, including networking, preparation of SOQs, proposals, and contracts
  • Manage design consultants and clients
  • Oversee/quality control for concepts or schematic designs, including layout, grading, hydrology, and utilities.
  • Oversee design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with the project team to produce construction documents
