About The Position

STV has an opening for a Civil/Roadway Design Engineering Specialist in our Transportation division out of our Jacksonville, FL location. In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of engineers to provide engineering support for transportation projects. Key responsibilities will include roadway design, plans production, specifications, estimates, studies, and reports for road/highway projects including but not limited to design projects for public agencies. There is growth potential for this position, and will require collaboration with other disciplines including planning, environmental, drainage, and structures. A successful candidate will have a strong desire to meet and/or exceed client expectations and will work efficiently to provide project deliverables. Responsibilities include: Provide professional design services for transportation highways and other relevant projects for the FDOT and other transportation agencies. Be familiar with local, state, and national roadway design standards. Perform geometric roadway design using OpenRoads, prepare drawings, calculations, quantities, and specifications. Develop design plans including horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, construction staging, traffic control plans, signage, and pavement marking plans. Work zone traffic control plans. Prior drainage experience is a plus. Coordinate with the team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget. Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, reports and preparing final bid packages. Interface with client technical staff and project managers Assist with preparation of technical and cost proposals. Assist other groups as needed including but not limited to drainage, erosion control, and utilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Open Roads Designer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior drainage experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FDOT is a plus
  • Engineering Intern (EI) certification or ability to acquire is a plus.
