Under general direction, is responsible for managing criminal felony and appeals cases, represents the State in legal actions; trains and supervises Prosecutor IV, III, and Misdemeanor Prosecutors. This position leads the Civil Rights Division and is directly responsible to the elected District Attorney for the review, evaluation and assessment of all Officer Involved Shootings (OIS), and official actions that could reasonably result in potential prosecution of excessive use of force. This review and analysis require the application of all relevant Texas statutory law and case law precedent. The results of said analysis are presented to the elected District Attorney for charging guidance/decisions. Upon indictment or filing of cases, the person selected will be responsible for the subsequent criminal prosecution of those incidents.
