About The Position

The Civil Rights Compliance Specialist is responsible for the intake of complaints made to the Civil Rights Compliance Unit within the Ethics and Compliance Office. The specialist is responsible for the coordination of supportive measures for individuals involved in reports of sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, or related matters that include, but are not limited to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and university policy. This position ensures a compassionate, trauma-informed, and equitable response to impacted parties while maintaining compliance with federal and state laws and university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling, human resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in student affairs, case management, Title IX compliance, Title VI compliance, ADA, or similar work.
  • Knowledge of Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, VAWA, Clery Act, and other laws related to discrimination and harassment in education.
  • Experience providing trauma-informed, student- or employee centered support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse populations and maintain neutrality in sensitive situations.
  • Excellent organizational and case management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and complex issues with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain neutral and sensitive to all parties.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, law, social work, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a Title IX, Title VI, or Equal Opportunity office at a higher education institution, including experience investigating complaints.
  • Experience with case management software
