About The Position

We are searching for a Staff Engineer for our Tampa office who seeks to advance their career through training, mentoring, and experience in the field and office. As a Staff Engineer, you will provide engineering/design support to the team within our existing solid waste practice focused on landfill, landfill gas, recycling, and composting related to permitting and design, air quality and compliance support, construction, operation, and monitoring for private and municipal clients. This position will consist of a mix of fieldwork and work onsite in our Tampa office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, or related major required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant civil or environmental experience required.
  • Competent with using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting experience, business specific to the solid waste industry, including landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting, etc.
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Landfill and landfill gas system permitting and design, including construction plans, specifications and construction documents.
  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste assignment areas and related fields.
  • Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations.
  • Make decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plans and coordinate work, and represent us at meetings and conferences.
  • Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, sample collection, drilling oversight, etc.
  • Office-based tasks include CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, permit applications, etc.
  • Business development including proposal preparation, meeting with clients, and attending industry related conferences/trade shows.
  • Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
  • Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, design plans, design calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission.
  • Prepare calculations for reports and in support of design documents as requested.
  • Review laboratory data and prepare compliance monitoring reports.
  • Ensure adherence to client and company policies in all activities including health and safety, security, and ethics.
