About The Position

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for an Attorney to join their team. Our client is a mission-driven law firm nationally recognized for their work advocating for survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Requirements

  • Three to five years of legal experience required
  • Experience managing a significant civil litigation caseload
  • Experience conducting court appearances, oral arguments, depositions, and mediations
  • Knowledge of civil litigation procedures in California
  • Experience working in a fast-paced legal environment with competing deadlines
  • Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and research skills
  • Empathetic, trauma-informed communication style
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple active cases
  • Ability to build trust with clients navigating crisis and trauma
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams
  • Open-minded, flexible thinker with willingness to receive and incorporate feedback

  • Experience working wit h trauma survivors or vulnerable populations (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Represent survivors of childhood sexual abuse in civil litigation.
  • Handle cases start to finish
  • Provide support to survivors
  • Handle cases from the very beginning, through the litigation process, to results.
  • Handle court appearances and oral arguments
  • Research complex legal questions
  • Manage discovery
  • Write compelling legal briefs
  • Handle a large workload
  • Effectively communicate with individuals in crisis
  • Communicate with survivors in an empathetic, trauma-informed, and supportive manner
  • Conduct thorough client interviews and maintain ongoing client communication
  • Build trust-based relationships with clients while managing expectations and providing clear guidance
  • Conduct factual investigation into survivor histories, perpetrator profiles, and institutional involvement
  • Gather and analyze evidence, review records, and work closely with investigators and legal staff
  • Evaluate cases for legal viability and prepare them for litigation
  • Draft pleadings, complaints, motions, and briefs
  • Perform complex legal research and analysis
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including propounding and responding
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, and court appearances
  • Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial advocacy when required
  • Independently manage a significant caseload and competing deadlines
  • Collaborate with legal team members, paralegals, investigators, and leadership
  • Maintain strong and positive working relationships to support a productive environment
  • Perform all other responsibilities necessary from case retention to conclusion
