About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an inquisitive Graduate Engineer to join our Water Resources (flood control) team in Las Vegas, NV. Westwood has a highly experienced and diverse team of individuals dedicated to providing high-quality professional services to our clients and community. A graduate engineer will be expected to learn and perform hydrologic analysis and hydraulic computations to support small—and large-scale design projects. Duties will include conducting hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, preparing reports and technical memorandums, and preparing civil construction plans for stormwater infrastructure. Graduate engineers will have opportunities to interact with governmental agency reviewers, internal and external clients, and sub-consultants. Project types include due diligence, master planning, residential and commercial land development, and private and public infrastructure. Candidates must be motivated to learn a diverse set of skills and aim to produce high-quality work. Ideally, they have a positive attitude and apply good communication skills.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years experience; or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with no experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HEC-RAS, WSPG, HY8, AutoCAD, or GIS, but not required
  • EIT preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Work as a critical member of a drainage design team under the direction of various project managers.
  • Perform research and data collection, including field visits.
  • Prepare hydrologic assessments to support drainage patterns and storm runoff.
  • Prepare hydraulic assessments to support storm drain infrastructure recommendations for flood protection.
  • Prepare technical reports to document data sources, assumptions, assessments, results, and recommendations.
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare schematic exhibits and compute quantities.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control to ensure accuracy of work.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to learn company policies, practices, and standards, as well as agency/entity regulations and standards.
  • Work under the supervision and direction of designers, project engineers, and project managers.
  • All other related work as assigned by supervisors to support the Water Resources team.
