About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Public Infrastructure team. This position is open to all recent graduates and December 2025 and May 2026 graduates. Westwood is rated as a 2024 Best Firm to Work For! Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2026. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. A Civil Graduate Engineer is expected to work on a team providing support to licensed Civil Engineers while learning the company's standard practices and local agency codes. The Civil Graduate Engineer will spend time involved in public infrastructure projects doing technical calculations, plan and specification production, and assisting in project management tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
  • Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D software
  • Outgoing, friendly, approachable (team player)
  • Strong communication skills with team members and clients, demonstrates active listening techniques
  • Proficient in computer software (Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStations, Outlook, Microsoft Project)
  • Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
  • Able to pro-actively pursue design solutions
  • Ability to be open to other's ideas and willing to compromise
  • Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual
  • Good reputation among peers, clients, and agencies
  • Able to follow general directions and guidelines for the firm's policies, practices, and procedures
  • A supportive team member with the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
  • Assist project team in preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
  • Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, and MicroStations
  • Coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Assist with construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStations including grading plans; plan and profiles; construction details; etc.
