About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. A Graduate Engineer is expected to work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will be dedicated to becoming proficient in Design Software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, etc.), performing technical calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and assisting with other project management and engineering tasks. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the applicant needs to be organized, self-motivated, and possess the ability to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within budget.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
  • Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D, OpenRoads, or MicroStation software

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team in the design of public infrastructure work
  • Assist the project team in preparing construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
  • Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, OpenRoads, or MicroStation
  • Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Assist with construction drawings using design software, including grading plans, plan and profiles, construction details, etc.
