About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Intern - Tailings and Mine Waste for our office in Denver, Colorado to support our Mining and Tailings practice in the southwest US. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. This position is expected to begin in May/June 2026.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least 3 years of study.
  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/interest in one or more of the following areas: civil engineering, geotechnical engineering hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, Geostudio.

Responsibilities

  • Interns are responsible for performing specific tasks and limited portions of broader assignments and will receive close supervision, guidance, and mentoring from experienced engineers in the office.
  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
