About The Position

Trimat is a growing, forward-thinking testing firm specializing in geotechnical consulting, materials testing, and construction inspection services. We are excited to announce the opening of a new, state-of-the-art office and laboratory fully equipped for asphalt, soil, and concrete testing. We are seeking a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer to lead operations, grow our regional presence, and ensure technical excellence. The Civil/Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for managing daily operations of the new office and laboratory, overseeing laboratory testing and field services, mentoring staff, ensuring quality control, maintaining client relationships, and supporting business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and/or materials testing.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory procedures for asphalt, soils, and concrete testing.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build client relationships and drive business development.
  • Highly organized with strong leadership and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the office and laboratory.
  • Supervise laboratory testing for asphalt, soils, aggregates, and concrete in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for field and laboratory personnel.
  • Prepare, review, and seal engineering reports, proposals, and test results.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and support project acquisition efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor laboratory and field staff as the office grows.
  • Manage laboratory accreditations and certifications (e.g., AASHTO, CCRL, AMRL).
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration schedules.
