About The Position

The Civil Field Engineer at Bechtel Corporation will provide specialized project field engineering expertise, focusing on work planning, material management, safety and quality control, and technical inspections. This role is crucial for ensuring that field engineering activities are conducted safely, meet quality standards, and adhere to project requirements, particularly in the context of the Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
  • Familiar with Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's 'Zero Accidents' safety program.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
