About The Position

Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company has an immediate opportunity for a Civil Field Engineer to join our team. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, highly organized individual to join the Project Management team to provide all facets of construction project support, including submittal processing, material management, and budget analysis. Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience, ideally in civil construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Track the project scope by line items as they relate to the job phases and schedule. Identify cost slippage, overruns, potential overruns, savings opportunities, and report these to the Project Manager.
  • Manage T&M, MURK, and other extra work deliverables.
  • Support the project team in the preparation and review of change orders, back charges, and cost transfers.
  • Review and verify craft labor time sheets from the Foreman.
  • Code and approve invoices with Accounts Payable and Contract Administration.
  • Effectively manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Communicate and work closely with the Project Manager, Super and Foreman to ensure proactive cost management.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Project Manager and Contract Administrator to prepare monthly pencil requisitions for client review as well as all final requisitions.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reporting.
