About The Position

Build the numbers that decide which dirt we move, and how we do it. Be in the office, in the field, and in the middle of it all. About Great Divide Earthworks No project starts without the dig. We’re a Western Wyoming earthwork crew that takes pride in setting the foundation that the rest of the work depends on. Since 2014, we’ve been trusted for work that requires accurate planning, custom-fitted and tech-enabled equipment, and crews who build cleanly and safely in the terrain we call home. We keep investing in our people because the work improves when the people doing it do too. How You’ll Contribute This role exists because we’ve grown past what the owner and superintendent can reasonably carry alone. You’ll bring structure, numbers, and perspective to how we decide what work to take on and how to price it. Your estimates will guide training, tighten job costing, improve standard practices, and help us reward quality work. You’ll be involved from the first look at a project through closeout and debrief. What You’ll Get To Do Win the right work by reviewing RFPs and helping leadership decide which projects fit our crew and capacity. Build accurate estimates for varied scopes, including site packages, dry and wet utilities, grading, clearing, demolition, and infrastructure work, like water control structures and rural bridges. Create strong project starts by coordinating pre-construction efforts such as machine control modeling and material ordering. Keep projects financially honest by tracking job costs through completion, repricing and managing change orders, and adjusting when field conditions shift. Protect and grow customer relationships by working directly with clients from pricing through closeout. Stay connected to production by coordinating customer requests with the field crew and spending real time on site. Close projects well by participating in debriefs, identifying weak links in operating systems, celebrating wins, and helping leadership decide how to improve the next job.

Requirements

  • You’ve spent time doing civil earthwork in the field and know how to price projects because you know how they’re actually built.
  • You’re a software nerd and spreadsheet guru who gets into the granular details and is just as comfortable working from the front seat of a truck as you are splitting time between the office and the field.
  • You’re not afraid to build the airplane while it’s flying and help create estimating processes and systems as you go.
  • You have an inquisitive mind and the ability to engage with conflicting opinions in a gentle way.
