About The Position

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineer, EIT to work in our Lexington office. The successful candidate for this position will provide engineering support for the water/wastewater group. Typical projects include a wide variety of municipal water/wastewater projects involving collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and rehabilitation. This position is part of a team that specializes in the engineering of public water systems to upgrade aging infrastructure, provide sustainable solutions, and offer innovative approaches to help preserve safe and reliable water delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or a related field)
  • 0-2 years of relevant civil engineering experience, EIT Certification
  • Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Related site/civil or municipal experience is highly desired
  • Familiarity with elements of the design-bid-build process including engineering analysis, permitting, development of construction documents (plans and specifications), cost estimating, and construction administration and observation
  • Has ability to lead engineering designs independently and work with others for support
  • Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
  • Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Perform in conceptual and detailed design and hydraulic calculations and analyses
  • Assist in preparing detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documents
  • Prepare engineering reports
  • Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices
  • Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices
  • Support cost-benefit analysis
  • Perform field work or construction observation
  • Perform writing assignments to contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos and reports
  • Assist with quality control and assurance
  • Prepare permit applications and support materials
