About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a Civil Environmental Water/Wastewater Engineer with experience in design and construction oversight of water and wastewater infrastructure to join our Water Group in our Colorado Springs, CO office. Basic office hours are 8:00 am MT to 5:00 pm MT, Monday thru Friday and is a hybrid schedule. Occasional overtime could be needed with short notice. This position may also require some minimal travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School. Master's degree preferred.
  • Zero (0) years - four (4) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater systems.
  • Valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • A Colorado Water Distribution System Operator license and/or a Colorado Wastewater Collections System Operator license.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with Water/Sanitary Sewer modeling.
  • Experience with BioWin Modeling.
  • Experience with GIS Systems and Programs.
  • Public works design experience with local, State and Federal governments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater systems.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including administration and limited inspection.
  • Review designs by others for conformance to design standards and support municipal water and sewer operations and maintenance.
  • Perform independent design tasks and prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Organize all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables after receiving initial instructions from project manager.
  • Become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures and apply them when required.
  • Make sound engineering decisions and exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Interface effectively with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies.
  • Lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.
  • Manage projects as needed.
