About The Position

Bohannan Huston is currently seeking a student intern to join our Construction Materials Testing Laboratory in our Albuquerque, NM office. This position is for the summer, with the possibility of continuing into the school year. As a student intern in our Construction Materials Testing Lab, you would be involved in numerous field and lab materials testing tasks that could include: Shadow and provide assistance to experienced Materials Technicians in the field and lab. Learn the how-and-why concepts behind construction materials testing requirements. Interpret data, perform calculations and use spreadsheets as a tool to assist with these operations. Conduct materials laboratory tests per ASTM and AASHTO procedures. Learn how to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and standard test methods. Practice field safety and learn proper protocol while in the field. Assist with retrieving and testing field samples of different types of construction materials including concrete, asphalt, aggregates and soils. Perform general maintenance of lab equipment and assistance with laboratory tasks.

Requirements

  • You are working toward a bachelor's degree in a related engineering field of study such as Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, Architecture, and/or Materials Science.
  • You have at least a 3.0 GPA, and have shown a commitment to academic focus, leadership and delivering high quality solutions and products.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication.
  • You are determined, organized, and detail oriented.
  • You are customer focused with a positive attitude.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to learn and grow.
