We're looking for a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Design Organization this summer! You'll support engineers and project managers on projects involving water distribution, sewer systems, pumping stations, roadways, and stormwater infrastructure. Responsibilities include researching codes and design options, documenting findings, assisting with CADD drawings, and contributing to the analysis and retrofit of new and existing facilities. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
  • Very limited work based experience (0 to 3 months).
  • No managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
  • Use the knowledge management system to access specific information.
  • Provide technical support to inspections of the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and the remedial works needed in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Support others by implementing improvements and carrying out simple change management tasks.
  • Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions, under supervision, to provide feedback and contribute to validation of the design.
  • Support others by carrying out a range of product development and engineering activities, such as analyzing client situations or interpreting data.
  • Carry out a range of contract management tasks.
  • Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
