This is a Summer 2026 internship to support Scout's engineering and preconstruction efforts. A successful candidate will leverage their engineering, research, and design skills to identify better approaches to common challenges faced in the utility-scale renewable energy industry. This internship includes the opportunity to work closely with the engineering and preconstruction teams but also members of many different departments at Scout. Scout's Engineering team aims to improve design capabilities and increase design capacity. To expedite code studies, the candidate will create a Federal, State, and Local database of Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and compile code requirements from historical and current projects. Additionally, the candidate will perform civil designs for utility scale solar and wind projects utilizing established methods as well as trial new software to enhance the design process. By the end of this internship, you will have a deeper understanding of the overall project design and development process for utility-scale renewable energy projects. The results of the candidate's efforts will provide lasting impact for Scout since they will inform decisions about projects that Scout designs to last for 20+ years. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to shadow team members during meetings and other training opportunities to provide additional insight into key industry trends and challenges. Note to prospective candidates: Scout is committed to developing a diverse and inclusive team of professionals. We encourage applications from all demographics. It has been studied that underrepresented groups tend to apply to jobs only when they meet 100% of the qualifications. If you are excited about the projects in this internship position, you are encouraged to apply even if you do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed below.
