About The Position

Civil Engineering Intern Position Purpose: Internship opportunity to establish foundational knowledge of Civil Engineering fieldwork and exposure to the implementation of design work in the field. Essential Functions: Provide on-site construction observation of current projects, which may include but not limited to recording quantities and progress of construction activities and providing oversight of materials testing Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, city staff and residents to field questions and provide information on projects Review drawings to maintain accurate construction files Research information to begin project scoping Assist project engineers and project managers in design Required Traits & Characteristics: The ideal candidate strives to put academic concepts and practices into real-world experiences Comfortable working on construction job sites Frequently required to stand for long lengths of time and work in adverse weather conditions Strong time management, problem-solving, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills Must be able to work extended hours (normal hours are 8am-5pm, but can vary due to construction schedules, including nights and weekends) Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to Construction Services Manager Required Education/Experience: Actively enrolled in a college or university Civil Engineering program, or similar program Driver’s License Travel: Position based in Benton Harbor or Kalamazoo 75% local regional travel to work sites and for project assignments About Wightman Wightman is a full-service consulting firm that exists to service people and the communities we live in. Requirements

• Actively enrolled in a college or university Civil Engineering program, or similar program
• Driver’s License
