Grow with us, H2O+U. Your Opportunity As an Intern for Summer 2026 based in our Minneapolis, MN office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water and wastewater related projects. Our projects involve water and wastewater infrastructure; it can involve water treatment, water towers, wastewater treatment, lift stations, and water/wastewater conveyance, treatability studies, and more. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who plan on taking or have taken water/wastewater treatment, hydraulics, water resources, or other related environmental and other civil engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects. Internship is with the local Water and Wastewater group, but there may be opportunities to assist in other disciplines in the office such as Water Resources, Transportation, and Environmental Services.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated and capable of working independently on assigned tasks.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program for Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired software applications include: AutoCAD, Adobe or Bluebeam Revu, and ArcMap/GIS
  • Previous internship or co-op experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports
  • Preparing design and construction plans, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates
  • Assisting with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations
  • Building surface models in AutoCAD, or other software
  • Supporting Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress.
