Civil Engineering Intern, Infrastructure Design Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Public Infrastructure team in our San Antonio, TX office. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will learn to become proficient in Engineering Design Software, perform technical calculations, assist and prepare plans and specifications, and assist with other engineering tasks. Requirements

  • Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and learn a specialized field
  • Growing knowledge of profession as demonstrated by involvement in related professional organizations and professional development programs
  • Able to follow general directions and guidelines for the firm’s policies, practices, and procedures
  • Able to follow general directions and work with limited independence on basic computations
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design software
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Microsoft Project, etc.)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Currently working towards completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Prepares preliminary analysis on a variety of technical tasks
  • Project research, field work, observation and preliminary design calculations
  • Take personal responsibility for quality of tasks performed
  • Uses Design Software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads) to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts and estimates
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Performs routine analysis to check accuracy of data and work products
  • Assist in the preparation of exhibits, plot plans, lot fits or other similar tasks by discipline
