About The Position
The Civil Engineering Operations Director is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the engineering department's operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures while also developing new processes to meet the demands of contract projects. This position requires a strong leader who can maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations and uphold confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar role, demonstrating excellent organizational and leadership skills, as well as outstanding communication abilities. Knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines is essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of various departmental functions and principles. In this role, the Director will interface with department heads and employees across Engineering, Drafting, and Survey Departments, enhancing capabilities and performance while enforcing company policies. The Director will be accountable for achieving performance objectives and will report directly to the President. Responsibilities include developing executable engineering processes, attending and leading meetings to resolve project issues, and managing resources related to engineering commitments. The Director will also supervise staff, provide constructive feedback, and regularly evaluate the efficiency of engineering activities to implement improvements. The successful candidate will lead design efforts, work closely with younger engineers, and oversee outsourced work processes to enhance efficiency. They will manage internal procurement processes and coordinate material and resource allocation, ensuring that the department operates within legal and regulatory frameworks. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, effective time management, and the ability to communicate project scope and tasks clearly to project managers and team members.
