About The Position

The Civil Engineer position at the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Technical Development and Mission Support involves ensuring a technically secure environment for the White House and other locations associated with the President and Vice President. The role includes program planning, contract management, and resolving engineering issues to support departmental objectives.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) is required.
• Must obtain and maintain a top secret Tier 5 clearance.
• Must submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing thereafter.
• All Civil Engineers must obtain FAC-COR Level 2 certification within the first 12 months of onboarding.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in civil engineering.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in protective or investigative research and development program management.
• Knowledge of construction, object inspection, security criteria for facilities, and structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and provide program-planning documentation, such as monthly updates and briefing books.
• Promote the accomplishments and objectives of the Technical Security Division through briefings and demonstrations.
• Recommend resolutions for engineering or scientific issues to meet departmental objectives.
• Negotiate with stakeholders to resolve engineering aspects of controversial decisions.
• Serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative in managing awarded contracts.
• Evaluate contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
