About The Position

Join our team as a Civil Engineer! Matrix is seeking a self-driven mid to senior-level experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in our Maumee, Ohio office. The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay. The position will work independently and as a part of a diverse team of multi-discipline engineers and architects to solve problems and execute projects for industrial and manufacturing clients. The core duties of this position are to prepare designs and drawings for site development and industrial infrastructure projects. This position may also support our topographic surveying, 3D laser scanning, and ground penetrating radar services. The individual will hold a professional engineer’s license or ability to obtain license within 12 months of employment. Level of responsibility will depend on current skill sets and the ability to learn and show competence in completing assignments and leading junior engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university.
Four (4) to ten (10) years of related civil engineering experience.
PE Required or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date.
Must be able to travel up to 20% local/daytime travel; occasional overnight travel may be required.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to self-manage assignments for multiple projects concurrently.
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience in engineering consulting and/or working at manufacturing facilities preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
Knowledge of topographic surveying and/or 3D laser scanning preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead designs for site grading, site layout, stormwater management, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water/firewater piping, pavement, parking lots, private roads/drives, erosion and sediment control, railroad spurs and general site development for industrial and manufacturing facilities.
Lead the development of engineering contract documents including drawings, details, specifications, and installation scopes of work using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office programs.
Lead gathering field data including hand measurements, surveying, 3D scanning, and ground penetrating radar.
Lead estimating material take-offs and preparing budgetary construction cost estimates.
