About The Position

We are actively looking for a Civil Engineer to join our Walnut Creek or Oakland office. Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university degree program; required
  • Master's in Civil Engineering; preferred
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam or Engineer-in-Training Certification; required
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; preferred
  • 6 - 10 years of experience in general civil engineering
  • Competence in general civil engineering design is required including roadway, paving, grading, drainage, H&H, water and sanitary sewer
  • Ability to plan, schedule work and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines
  • Software Proficiency AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel

Responsibilities

  • Prepares engineering design documents including concept development, feasibility studies, and final construction drawings and specifications
  • Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
  • Assists project manager, or acts as project manager, to prepare/review engineering scopes of work and budgets/estimates for proposals and track budget and schedule status throughout the course of each project. Monitor scope of work and scope changes
  • Interface with clients as needed for successful project delivery. Address client requirements and manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule and quality on projects
  • Communicate with staff and subconsultants to establish work priorities for projects
  • Determines project costs by performing quantity takeoffs and calculating labor, material, and related costs
  • Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
  • Produces engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Is familiar with permitting requirements for San Francisco Bay and northern California regulatory agencies
  • Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, performing on-site construction inspection, and verifying construction quantities
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests from clients or agencies
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions
