About The Position

Clemson University is seeking an Assistant Director of Group Fitness to lead and manage a diverse range of group fitness programs that engage the Clemson community. This role is pivotal in planning and delivering high-quality fitness experiences, ensuring that the programs meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The Assistant Director will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating a staff of approximately 60 individuals, including student workers, interns, graduate assistants, and contracted instructors. The position requires a proactive approach to program development, marketing, and risk management, ensuring that all departmental and university procedures are adhered to at all times. The Assistant Director will work independently to manage the Group Fitness program, which includes F45 and other innovative fitness offerings. This involves planning, promoting, and executing a diverse schedule of classes and programs that cater to a wide range of participants. The role also includes developing a strategic marketing and communication plan to effectively engage the community and ensure high participation rates. Additionally, the Assistant Director will be responsible for budget development and monitoring, as well as evaluating studio equipment and facilities to maintain safety and compliance with risk management standards. In terms of staff management, the Assistant Director will focus on creating a positive and healthy staff culture, providing leadership development opportunities to enhance staff retention. The role also involves participating in departmental committees and collaborating with other university organizations to develop programs that align with the Campus Recreation mission. This position is essential for fostering a vibrant fitness community at Clemson University and supporting the overall well-being of its members.
