The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking candidates who are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvania's citizens and environment. This position functions as an engineering position in the Dams and Waterways Section in the Waterways and Wetlands Program. The primary function of this position is involved in performing engineering work in the field of hydrology and hydraulics as required for implementing the statewide programs on waterway management and flood plain management mandated by the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act, the Clean Streams Law, and the Flood Plain Management Act. A secondary function of this position is involved in performing independent engineering work in the field of hydrology and hydraulics as required for implementing the statewide programs on NPDES Stormwater Construction Permitting, Erosion and Sedimentation Control, and Post Construction Stormwater Management as mandated by the Clean Streams Law, and the pertinent regulations promulgated there under; including Chapter 102, Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management, and Chapter 93, Water Quality Standards. If this position is filled as a Civil Engineer Trainee (Hydraulic), the individual will serve a 12-month training period. During this training period, there will be greater oversight of the employee's duties, formal training, and on the job training to perform the Civil Engineer Hydraulic duties and implement the objectives of the Waterways and Wetlands Program.
