About The Position

Under the general supervision of the City Engineer, the Civil Engineering Technician performs routine and complex technical engineering related work for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other public works projects and programs. The technician assists an Engineer in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering technology.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a high school or GED, supplemented by two years of related technical or college training in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of two years related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Must be insurable with City’s insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient use of Civil 3D design software.
  • Considerable skill in arriving at cost estimates on complex projects.
  • Some skill in basic land and construction surveying.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts detailed dimensional drawings for street, water, sewer, drainage, and other utility plans.
  • Reviews project specifications and confers with City Engineer regarding plan preparation and design changes.
  • Observes material testing and analysis.
  • Drafts and calculates field notes to document project quantities and specifications.
  • Surveys project sites to obtain and analyze topographical details.
  • Writes legal descriptions for dedications, annexations, and easements.
  • Researches records and maps for engineering data.
  • Calculates dimensions and quantities of materials.
  • Inspects construction sites for conformance to design specifications.
  • Assists in the preparation of maps and comprehensive plans for various systems.
  • Maintains engineering and infrastructure records.
  • Prepares and drafts as-built plans.
  • Evaluates transportation and traffic impacts of development proposals.
  • Assists in preparing traffic and utility studies and reports.
  • Performs various office functions including correspondence and map preparation.
  • Serves as a drafter and infrastructure inspector as needed.
  • Assists with CCTV inspection of storm water and sanitary sewer infrastructure.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $24.00 - $28.00/hr depending on qualifications.
