About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer manages the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of physical infrastructures. This role ensures compliance with relevant building codes and safety regulations while applying leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts. The engineer contributes to the development of new principles and concepts, working on unusually complex problems and providing highly innovative solutions. The position operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision and includes mentoring or supervising employees in both company and technical competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of physical infrastructures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and safety regulations.
  • Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts in civil engineering.
  • Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
  • Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions.
  • Mentor or supervise employees in both company and technical competencies.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of experience with the design and construction of facility utilities, environmental systems, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience in analyzing the mechanics and properties of soil and rock, and how they interact with structures and underground facilities.
  • Experience with seismic analysis to predict soil response to weapons effect.
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), NFPA, ANSI, ASCE, and civil and environmental systems industry standards.
  • Knowledge of underground facilities or hard and deeply buried targets.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Professional Engineering Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in engineering with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction drawing sets.
  • Knowledge of civil and environmental compliance within an energetic environment.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
