About The Position

Join our Chicago team as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Rail + Transit infrastructure. This position is ideal for a licensed engineer ready to take ownership of complex design projects, lead interdisciplinary coordination, and guide clients through the delivery of transformative transportation solutions. As part of our team, you'll work with leading Rail Industry clients on projects spanning stormwater drainage, utilities, site development, and roadway design—all while enjoying the energy and opportunities of Chicago.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Michigan PE a plus).
  • 6-10 years of related civil/site design experience, preferably in Rail + Transit or transportation projects.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong technical expertise in roadway, parking, utility, site development, and/or water resources design.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with rail design preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present to clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation, integrity, and sustainable solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Active involvement in professional associations (AREMA, APTA, ASCE, WTS, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the application of civil engineering principles to Rail + Transit projects.
  • Perform and oversee engineering calculations, analysis, and design for civil improvement plans.
  • Prepare and seal plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with agency design criteria and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate technical reviews with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Develop and manage production work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct independent quality control and quality assurance reviews.
  • Guide junior engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural, MEP, and other disciplines to deliver fully integrated design solutions.
  • Support business development through technical expertise, client interaction, and proposal input as needed.
