About The Position
The Civil Engineer III is in the Engineering Division’s Drainage and Bridge Section. This position is the dedicated Bridge Engineer and reviews and coordinates the bi-annual bridge inspections that are required by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This position reviews and approves requests for Overload/Oversize permits for the transportation of various items over City streets and City-owned bridges and coordinates the updates to the Bridge Maintenance Program. The Public Works Department is seeking an individual with experience in applying engineering principles to bridge projects and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers. This position will be expected to accept increasing levels of responsibility while demonstrating continued and progressive technical and leadership skills.
