RETTEW is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to support our growing team based in our Lancaster, PA office. As a dynamic, client-focused Engineer 2 , you will support the Municipal Team with environmental design for multi-disciplined water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Prior experience in water/wastewater/municipal engineering and EIT certification is necessary for this position. Please ensure that you meet these qualifications before applying. As an Engineer 2 specializing in water/wastewater, you will develop broad knowledge and skills in this practice area. You will work as part of a project team to evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for tasks or sequences of tasks on conventional projects with few complex features. You will use judgment collaboratively to adapt methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments, apply principles of probability and statistics to assess engineering risks, and uphold ethical behavior in all engineering practices. Types of projects you'd be working on: - PTSA WWTP Expansion project : RETTEW’s wastewater treatment experts analyzed alternatives for treatment plant expansion as well as BNR. A key constraint in the alternatives analysis was to expand the treatment plant capacity using existing tankage. RETTEW recommended a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system for the upgrade because of lower operating and maintenance costs compared to other alternatives. The Authority subsequently hired RETTEW to proceed with engineering design services for the wastewater treatment plant expansion, and we developed competitive procurement documents for purchase of the associated MBR equipment. The engineering team is designing an automated process that will be operator-friendly. - Sudlersville water system design : RETTEW secured USDA funding for the project and designed the centralized system. RETTEW was responsible for designing the water treatment, storage, and distribution systems; permitting the water system, and overseeing the construction of the systems. In addition, RETTEW prepared the construction documents, technical specifications, and plans for the construction of the water systems. We coordinated among USDA, MDE, and MDSHA to uphold the requirements of each administration. This project ensures the distribution of clean water to Sudlersville residents and improves the overall health and safety of those living and working in the area. - Asylum Run Interceptor Replacement : RETTEW designed and replaced approximately 4,400 LF of VCP with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sanitary sewer line, as well as 14 48-inch manholes. The project also involved the construction of an access/maintenance road for staging and additional workspace, as well as improving a section of the Capital Area Greenbelt trail.
