About The Position

Performs a variety of technical and supportive professional engineering tasks using traditional civil engineering methods, AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Microsoft Office software. Assist the design area in the accurate preparation of construction plans, specifications and estimates for various types of road and bridge improvements including horizontal and vertical alignments, pavement cross sections, quantity calculations, hydraulic studies and engineering cost estimates. Coordinate design work with internal departments and external customers. Attend public informational meetings and public hearings as appropriate and respond to public concerns and questions. Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position. Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience commensurate with the duties described above is required.
  • A successful candidate will need to exhibit proven problem solving skills, ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formats, be motivated, high energy and results oriented.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid Driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D software experience is preferred.
