About The Position

Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as a Civil Engineer - Hydraulics & Drainage in Bloomington, MN. Responsibilities include serving as a project engineer on projects and as a technical resource and/or project manager, assisting with or leading marketing pursuits and/or acting as a client contact, overseeing analyses, computations, preparation of plans and reports relating to hydraulic problems encountered in planning and design of highways, attending field reviews on new designs for highway projects, recommending revisions to improve drainage design, providing technical advice on pollution control measures and preparing stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), preparing design for detention/retention basin and other stormwater/storm quality solutions, coordinating with DOTs, County staff, environmental agencies, watershed districts, subconsultant staff, and other outside officials regarding design solutions for highway projects, attending client meetings, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least six (6) years of experience
  • PE licensure is required

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with MnDOT Hydraulics Unit design guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Drainage, H&H software (HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, HydroCAD)
  • Familiarity with preparing erosion control design and BMPs
  • Familiarity with preparing SWPPPs

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a project engineer on projects and as a technical resource and/or project manager
  • May assist with or lead marketing pursuits and/or act as a client contact
  • Assists with pricing, estimating, and scoping for proposed projects
  • Oversees analyses, computations, preparation of plans and reports relating to hydraulic problems encountered in planning and design of highways
  • Attends field reviews on new designs for highway projects
  • Recommends revisions to improve drainage design
  • Provides technical advice on pollution control measures and prepares stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs)
  • Prepares design for detention/retention basin and other stormwater/storm quality solutions
  • Coordinates with DOTs, County staff, environmental agencies, watershed districts, subconsultant staff, and other outside officials regarding design solutions for highway projects
  • Attends client meetings - days or nights
  • Other duties as assigned
