About The Position

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change. Please note: Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position. Eversource will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position. Responsible for the development, expansion, and design of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization. Responsible for civil, structural and site development designs and calculations for electrical substations and ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced and environmentally sound electric service. This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization's comprehensive long-term plan for the transmission/distribution system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 3-5 years of civil/structural experience required, preferably in the electrical utility industry.
  • PE License preferred, or ability to obtain a NH PE license within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MathCAD, RISA software (3D, Foundation, Base, Connection, and Foot), STAAD Pro, DS Anchor, L-Pile, PLS Tower, TNX Tower, Retain Pro, and HydroCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Work well in a team setting and be willing to learn new skills.
  • Learn technical proficiency in a range of Civil Engineering principles.
  • Support site grading design, storm water management design, structure and foundation design, oil containment design, substation sanitary and water installations, and rigid bus analysis.
  • Assist in the development and approval of project scopes, specifications, engineering designs, details, material ordering, and cost estimates.
  • Interface with Substation Engineering and Design to communicate project details and ensure safe use and maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with others, use computers effectively, and write clearly and concisely.
  • Accountable for root-cause analysis, development, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop conceptual site plans addressing typical development needs.
  • Conform to project schedules and effectively implement designs.
  • Perform review of engineering vendor submittals and participate in meetings with vendors.
  • Review all construction drawings and design documentation before issuance to construction contractors.
  • Ensure work is in accordance with Eversource standards and applicable Codes.
  • Provide Civil Engineering support of construction activities including resolution of field questions.
  • Assist with storm duty and any other major events.
